Awarded the FOCUS OPEN Gold 2023, the Xceed R demonstrates the role design can play in successfully positioning a product—far beyond mere aesthetics. The technical foundation was the Xceed sniper rifle, a platform featuring exceptional precision and a compact design. While these characteristics set new standards in the professional sector, we saw in them, above all, great potential for another market: hunting.
Our recommendation to TTS was not to position the technology exclusively as a high-end sniper platform, but rather to develop it into a high-quality hunting rifle. The reason: The hunting market offers a significantly larger target audience and strong demand for precise, technically sophisticated products that evoke an emotional connection. This assessment was confirmed by the success of the Xceed R.
The challenge was to adapt the same technical foundation for an entirely new target audience. Hunters have different expectations than professional users in military or government settings. In addition to precision and functionality, tradition, a sense of identity, perceived value, and an emotional connection to the product play a decisive role.
This is precisely where design comes into play: a highly precise technical platform is transformed into a product with its own distinct personality. The Xceed R combines the performance of the original technology with a modern, high-quality design language that inspires confidence and reflects the values of hunting.
