Making Performance Visible
With the HPR 120S, TQ developed a high-performance e-bike drive system that set new technological standards. Our task was to make this exceptional performance immediately tangible through its design.
The drive system’s distinctive packaging – the intelligent arrangement of the motor, gearbox and other components – provided the ideal foundation for the design. Rather than hiding this technical quality, we deliberately made it the starting point for the design process. We moved away from conventional ideas of what an e-bike drive should look like and developed a distinctive, powerful design language.
The result is a drive system whose design makes its technical qualities visible: precise, technically intelligent, powerful and modern. The design was recognised at the Bicycle Brand Contest 2017 in the E-Bike/Pedelec category.
As TQ put it: for a high-end product, outstanding performance must be accompanied by perfect design. With the HPR 120S, we were able to combine both into a convincing whole.
