Lightness That Inspires Confidence
“You want them to look lightweight while still inspiring confidence.” That was the brief for the Salewa Quickdraw AIR. At the same time, the design had to appeal to as broad a target audience as possible.
It sounds like a simple task, but achieving the right balance required a great deal of sensitivity. With a safety-critical climbing product, a lightweight appearance must never suggest instability or a lack of robustness.
We therefore developed and carefully coordinated every detail – from the proportions to the smallest transitions between surfaces.
The result is a design that makes lightness visible while conveying exactly what the user expects from a safety product: confidence.
