Porsche 911 Convertible Rear Spoiler
Five Weeks to a Full-Scale Model
The call from Porsche’s chief designer H. L. came as a surprise: “Can you design a rear spoiler for us and deliver a fully installation-ready 1:1 model within five weeks?”
That was ambitious – and could only work on one condition: Porsche had to trust us and do without the usual development loops. The schedule was genuinely so tight that there was no room for detours. Porsche agreed.
Our task was demanding: the spoiler not only had to match the character of the 911, it also had to work without interfering with the complex kinematics of the convertible roof.
Five weeks later, we handed over the installation-ready 1:1 model. The engineer responsible summed it up perfectly:
“To me, this is the most beautiful rear spoiler ever made for the 911.”
The design was then given its final technical refinement in the wind tunnel, working together with Porsche’s aerodynamics engineers.
