Porsche Boxster Sport Design Package
When Porsche looks for external design support for its vehicles or accessory programmes, the selection process comes with exceptionally high standards. We are therefore particularly proud that Porsche once again commissioned Target Design to develop a Sport Design Package for the Boxster.
The goal was to give customers of the Porsche Tequipment programme the opportunity to make their Boxster even more individual and dynamic. A newly developed front end and a distinctive rear spoiler were designed not only to enhance the car’s sporty appearance, but also to improve its aerodynamic performance.
The development process followed the established approach of the automotive industry: from initial design ideas and sketches through renderings and digital CAD models to a full-scale 1:1 clay model, the product was developed step by step. The design was then optimised in Porsche’s wind tunnel, with the final surfaces reconstructed for series production.
Each stage of development was regularly reviewed with Porsche before the project progressed to the next phase. The final presentation of the completed vehicle – a Dynoc-covered clay model – in Weissach demonstrated just how important the balance between distinctive design and unmistakable brand identity is.
The then head of Style Porsche summed up the result perfectly:
“You can tell that the car wasn’t designed by us – but I have to admit, it’s definitely a Porsche.”
