BMW Motorrad Montauk
Based on the successful BMW Cruiser, the Montauk was developed as a distinctive interpretation and, at the same time, as a new category within the BMW Motorrad range: the “Big Foot”, characterised by its striking, oversized front wheel.
The challenge was to create a clearly differentiated product character through targeted changes, without fundamentally altering the technical platform of the existing model. We developed the design concepts and visualised them for BMW Motorrad’s engineering team.
Following approval, we supported the implementation with BMW’s engineering department and supervised the 1:1 clay model at an external model maker, coordinating the further development through to the final presentation.
The result was a distinctive motorcycle with a powerful presence and unmistakable proportions – developed with manageable effort on the basis of an established and successful model.
